Birds of prey are prevalent in this unspoilt rural area, along with wild boar and deer which can often be seen in the garden and surrounding fields.
The Limousin is also famous for its prized cattle and its spectacular lakes and countryside. For the anglers there are numerous fishing lakes in the area.
There is a golf course 15 minutes away at Mortemart which has been voted one of the most beautiful villages in France.

During the Second World War, A German SS division massacred most of the village. The old village of Oradour sur glane where it occurred has been left as a memorial to that atrocity.
